MANILA, Philippines—Police are trying to produce a computerized image of the robber who shot a Philippine Military Academy cadet last Saturday during an attempted jeepney heist.
Inspector Elmer Monsalve of the Quezon City Police District’s (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the digital sketch would be based on the description of the passengers in the same jeepney as the injured Alfonso Aviles, a graduating cadet.
“There were three witnesses who were able to recall how the suspect looked like,” the official said in an interview.
The Fairview police station is the lead unit running after the robber who shot the 23-year-old Aviles last Saturday afternoon.
Assisting them are other QCPD units such as the CIDU, Traffic Enforcement Unit and District Police Intelligence Operations Unit.
Monsalve said the Fairview police station has been working on the computerized sketch of the suspect, described as between 30 and 40 years old.
The digital sketch of the suspect will be compared with the photos in the police rogues gallery for any resemblance to wanted criminals, according to Monsalve.
The police official added that they would review the records of robbers known to be operating in the area and in the same manner.
Aviles is comatose after sustaining a gunshot wound in the neck when he tried to tackle the jeepney robber at the corner of Regalado street and Commonwealth Avenue.
The victim came to the aid of a female passenger who was being robbed by the man, who was armed with a .45-cal. pistol.
The cadet, who was supposed to be a proctor for the PMA entrance examination last weekend, has been confined at the V. Luna Medical Center since the attack.
He also lost his class bull ring to the robber, who ran off after shooting him.
