‘Igme’ moves north, storm signal number 1 up in Batanes

MANILA, Philippines—Typhoon “Igme” has accelerated as it moved north northeast, the state weather bureau said Tuesday.

Public storm warning signal number one was still up in Batanes Group of Islands, while elsewhere was lowered, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 10 a.m. update.

As of 10 a.m., Igme was seen 285 kilometers north of Basco, Batanes. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 150kph.

Heavy to intense rains were seen within the 500km of the storm.
