500 runners enlist for VCMC run slated Sept. 2

AROUND 500 runners have already registered for the Visayas Community Medical  Center (VCMC) run slated Sept. 2 starting at the Parkmall in Mandaue City.

This fund-raising run is held in cooperation with the VCMC Association of Residents and PGIs, JCI Mandaue and JCI Womandaue. Proceeds of the race will be used for VCMC’s charity patients.

As of yesterday, 500 runners have registered but organizers are expecting more to enlist in the coming days. Deadline of registration is on Sept. 1. However,  organizers are thinking of extending it until the race day.

According to Dr. Kaye Erbal, chairman of the committee on registration. they are eyeing 1,000 to 1,500 runners to join the race, which will offer 3k, 6k, 12k and 21k distances.

Registration fees are P500 for the 21K run, P300 for the 12K run, and P250 for the 3K and 6K categories.

Dr. Philips Arias, president of VCMC Association of Residents and PGIs, said this is the first running activity to be organized by the hospital. He siad this is a good and healthy diversion for the medical field.

Race kits will be released starting tomorrow at the VCMC grounds and at the Ice Castle Parkmall branch. The kit includes a singlet, race number and a copy of the rules and regulations and race route.

Assembly time is set at 3:30 a.m. at the  Parkmall. Race starts at 4 a.m. /Correspondent Joy Cherry Quito
