4.5-magnitude quake rattles Laoag City

MANILA, Philippines – A 4.5-magnitude quake jolted Laoag City in Ilocos Norte Monday noon, the Philippine Volcanology and Seismology said.

The tectonic quake was recorded 18 kilometers southeast of Laoag City at 12:28 p.m. at a depth of 12 kilometers.

It was felt at Intensity IV in Laoag City, Badoc, Currimao, Pasuquin, Paoay and Batac City in Ilocos Norte, said Phivolcs.

Intensity III quake was also felt in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan; Dingras, Solsona, Nueva Ere, Burgos and Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte; and Bangued in Abra. Intensity II was felt in Vigan City and Magsingal in Ilocos Sur.

No damage was reported and no aftershocks were expected, Phivolcs said.
