Man drowns in La Union

MANILA, Philippines — A young man drowned from a strong current water in La Union, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said oN Monday.

Patrick Ramilo, 18, was found 15 meters from the shoreline of Camp Diego Silang, Cariatan village in San Fernando City  Sunday a few hours after he was carried away by water.

At about past 10a.m., Ramilo and his companion Mark Eliezer Joven went boating using an improvised bamboo racket or balsa, the NDRRMC said.

A strong current water hit the boat, which prompted the two to jump in the water. Joven managed to swim to the shoreline while Ramilo was carried by the water and drowned.

It was about 3:35p.m. on the same day when his body was found.
