THE FAR EASTERN University Tamaraws bucked a slow start and defeated the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 76-68, in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball tournament yesterday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Arvie Bringas stepped up to score seven points in the last three minutes, including a basket down with 36.3 seconds remaining that put the Falcons away. The Tamaraws pushed their record to 7-2 (win-loss) while dropping Adamson to a league-worst 1-8.
Junior guard, Terrence Romeo, once again had another spectacular outing as he scored 22 of his 27 points in the first half. It was the most that any player has scored in one half since former University of Sto. Tomas ace Dylan Ababou, scored 23 in 2009.
Meanwhile, the Ateneo Blue Eagles kept their mastery of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 73-66, in the “Battle of Katipunan” last Saturday night. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
