Man shot dead in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines – A 39-year-old construction worker was gunned down by a lone shooter late Saturday night in Quezon City.

Cesar Ramboyong, of the NAMAPA Compound in Barangay North Fairview, was declared dead on arrival at the Fairview General Hospital from multiple bullet wounds in the body.

Police Officer 2 Anthony Tejerero, of the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU), said that the incident happened at around 9 pm, Saturday, inside the NAMAPA Compound.

Tejerero revealed that before the incident, Ramboyong was buying pork barbecue from his cousin Earnie Regondola and was waiting for it to cook when a man approached the construction worker from behind.

With no provocation, the man suddenly drew a .45 pistol and started shooting Ramboyong in the back. The shooter immediately fled. Regondola tried to save his cousin by bringing him to the nearest hospital but the effort proved futile.

Tejerero said that four bullet casings were recovered at the crime scene.

The case investigator told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that Ramboyong’s kin informed him that the victim had a lot of enemies who may have wanted him dead but could not say which of them could be responsible for the killing.
