4 young people dead in plane crash in Canada

MOOREFIELD, Ontario – Four young people have died after a small plane crashed in southwest Ontario, police here said.

Police said Saturday that a single-engine Cessna crashed Friday night in a cornfield near Moorefield, Ontario.

Const. Keith Robb said all four occupants, three men and one woman, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Robb said the victims are believed to be young adults in their late teens and 20s.

It was unclear how long the plane had been in flight before it crashed, police said.

Officials said they don’t believe weather was a factor since it was a clear night.

Bob Connors, the general manager of the Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre, said the plane was a rental. Connors would not comment on the experience of the pilot.
