A policeman who was allegedly part of the group that robbed and terrorized a family in Sta. Ana, Manila, in May was shot dead in Taguig City by motorcycle-riding gunmen on Friday afternoon.
PO3 Morris Malindog, 37, who was recently sacked from the Manila Police District’s Sta. Ana station, was killed also while on a motorcycle along Bayani Road, Barangay Western Bicutan.
Malindog was then travelling with his live-in partner Jasmin Dimaala, 38, who survived the attack. She sustained injuries when the bike toppled over.
Malindog was on his way home after attending the summary dismissal proceedings against him at the Southern Police District headquarters in Fort Bonifacio when ambushed at around 1 p.m., Dimaala told police investigators.
In a report quoting Dimaala, Taguig Police Precinct 9 chief Senior Insp. Dennis Dacanay said Malindog’s colleagues at the MPD already warned him last month that somebody was out to kill him.
Malindog was one of three persons accused of ransacking a house on Paco Roman Street in Sta. Ana on May 30. The trio allegedly took some P3 million worth of valuables from the Bagui family as they held the household members at gunpoint.
In a press conference held by Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim in June, the Bagui family positively identified Malindog, a Sta. Ana resident, as one of the suspects.
The family also tagged MPD-Station 6 member PO1 Robert Cruz and Sta. Ana barangay executive officer Regente Osalla in the robbery.
Carlo Mark Bagui and wife Shental recalled how the suspects threatened to shoot them and locked them up together with the couple’s three children and their grandmother in the bathroom.
The three suspects were charged with robbery in band and child abuse. Lim also pushed for the summary dismissal of Malindog and Cruz from the service.
