Pagcor sends new donation to Tagum’s chairs program
TAGUM CITY—The Care for School Chairs (CFSC) Program of the city government got another boost in the form of a P2.7-million donation given by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp.
Mayor Rey Uy, who started the program out of confiscated lumber in August last year in answer to the lack of school furniture initially in the city, received the check on Monday through city treasurer Edgar de Guzman.
Pagcor chair Cristino Naguiat Jr. had pledged to send additional funds to help the school chairs manufacturing program, which now benefits other schools outside the city, Uy said.
Uy said the donation came at a good time, the first anniversary of the program.
Aside from Pagcor, the local LYR Group of Companies, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Tagum, also donated paint, worth P500,000, to the school chairs program, he said.
Penongs, a well-known restaurant with several stores in the Davao Region, also threw its full support behind the program by also donating P30,000, Uy said. Inquirer Mindanao
