Banilad Town Centre (BTC), in partnership with Philippine Daily Inquirer’s (PDI) Read-Along program and Basadours’ I Love to Read Project, will launch “Story Hours,” a monthly storytelling session today, Aug. 25 at the BTC.
Story Hours will be held every last Saturday of the month.
For the month of August, Grade One and Grade Two pupils of Saint Theresa’s College will join Grade One pupils of Mayor A.S. Fortuna Memorial Elementary School in a two-hour session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Story Hours aims to encourage children aged 6-12 years old to read and become advocates of reading. It will also serve as an avenue where children from private and public schools can meet and interact through storytelling sessions and other interactive activities and exercises.
Each Story Hours session will adopt a theme and 60 children will be invited to experience fun learning sessions with storytellers and facilitators.
To further promote reading, Story Hours will also serve as a book drive where attendees from different schools are encouraged to donate a book – used or brand new. The book will serve as their passport/entrance fee to the event and these books will be donated to the public libraries or the library of the attending public school.
Story Hours is also made possible by Tutoring Club, Pages Books, Dimsum Break, and Gymboree.
Banilad Town Centre is located on Gov. Cuenco Avenue, Banilad, Cebu City.
