500 traffic aides deployed for Robredo’s funeral cortege

MANILA, Philippines – Hundreds of traffic enforcers will be deployed Friday to areas where the funeral cortege of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo will pass by from the Villamore Airbase in Pasay City to Malacanang Palace in Manila, said the head of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

MMDA chairman Francis Tolentino said around 500 traffic aides will be deployed to make sure that Robredo’s convoy will reach the Palace without delay.

As per the Malacañang’s Committee on Funeral Arrangements and Burial bulletin No. 6, Robredo’s remains were set to be flown from Naga Airport to Manila between 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Arrival honors will be given to the late Secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at the Villamore Airbase in Pasay City.

From Villamore Airbase, Robredo’s convoy will take NAIA Road, Roxas Boulevard, Padre Burgos Street, Finance Road, Ayala Boulevard, Ayala Bridge, and Solano Street until they reach Malacañang. Another arrival honors will be offered.

Among the designated honorary pallbearers, the bulletin said, include Budget Secretary Florencio “Butch” Abad, Transportation Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II, Congressman Juan Abaya, Harvey Keh of Kaya Natin Movement, Alice Murphy of Urban Poor groups and Joan dela Cruz of DILG.
