MANILA, Philippines—A police officer was killed while two others were wounded Thursday night after unidentified men shot them in Calamba City, Laguna, police said Friday.
Laguna police chief Senior Superintendent Gilberto Cruz said that three unidentified men shot at Senior Police Officer 2 Julian Piamonte, retired soldier Rolando Siyang, and Rogelio Laririt while they were having a drink at Pamana Homes, Bucal village in Calamba City at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday. He said that the suspects escaped after the incident.
Cruz stated that Piamonte died on the spot after sustaining a gunshot wound in the head while his companions were rushed to the Jose P. Rizal Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Piamonte’s remains were brought to the Green Lawn Funeral Parlor.
Calamba police are conducting an investigation to determine the identities and motives of the suspects, Cruz said.
