AMERICAN, LOVER CHARGED

CHARGES were filed in court against a 46-year-old American national and his Cebuana girlfriend for allegedly trying to engage the woman’s two teenage daughters in prostitution.

The couple will face trial l before the Regional Trial Court for violating Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 and Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.

Bail was recommended at P60,000 for each of the accused in the child abuse charges.

However, they can’t be released since the trafficking case filed against them is a non-bailable offense.

The special law’s confidentiality provisions prohibit the identification of both the victims and the accused in the media.

The American was also charged with resistance and disobedience to a person in authority before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities.

The two daughters of the Cebuana executed sworn statements against the two accused.

The two adult respondents were arrested last August 8 in Pelaez Street, Cebu City by members of the Regional Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force.

Police rescued the woman’s two daughters aged 15 and 14, as well as a 4-year-old girl, all children from a previous relationship.

MAN FALLS IN DRUG BUST

A MAN was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in barangay Pasil, Cebu City.

Bryan Leyson Osabel, 26, allegedly sold two packs of suspected shabu to a policeman posing as a buyer last Wednesday night.

Chief Insp. Romeo Santander said Osabel’s alleged involvement in illegal drugs was reported to the Movements Against Drugs (MAD).

Police said 22 packs of suspected shabu and P2,300 cash were seized from the man’s possession.CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON

ROB SUSPECTS

ARRESTED

AN 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy were arrested after a jeepney robbery in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.

Christopher Batac and the boy were identified by Emilou Dela Rama, 22, and Michelle Undag, 34, as the ones who robbed them while they were on board a jeepney last Wednesday night.

The victims said Batac and the boy had two cohorts, who remain at large.

The victims said one of the robbers pointed a .38 revolver at them while the three others divested their belongings.

The victims reported the robbery to the police.
