TO celebrate 18 years as leader in the skills development and training in the Philippines, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) will hold various activities starting this week.
Tesda offers free services as its way of giving back to the public who have always trusted the agency in improving people’s lives.
Everyone can avail of the free hair cuts, massage, manicure and pedicure, foot spa and check ups of vital signs at the Tesda regional office in Lahug, Cebu City.
Graduates of Tesda vocational courses, called Tesda “specialistas” will provide the free services. Gates will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tesda’s week-long anniversary celebration kicked off with a vegetable planting yesterday at the its backyard.
Employees of Tesda’s regional offices as well as the trainees at the regional training center braved the heat and took part in the activity to green the community starting at the regional office grounds.
Tesda Regional Director Rose Urdaneta also encouraged everyone to participate in the blood-letting activity today in partnership with the Department of Health and the Red Cross.
In 1994, Tesda absorbed the functions of the National Manpower Youth Council. It then became Tesda after a law was passed for its creation.
At present, Tesda accreditation centers in Central Visayas have reached 302, with a total of 1,253 registered programs as of June 15.
“This is something Tesda-7 should celebrate on Friday (tomorrow) after giving the people affordable training for their future employment,” Tesda said in a statement.
