MANILA, Philippines— Senate majority floor leader Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday said the Senate would look into the possibilities of giving a posthumous confirmation for the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.

“Ito kailangan pag-aaralan pa namin kung pwedeng ministerial lang ito or pwedeng merong magandang benepisyo para kay Robredo kung may ibibigay na posthumous confirmation (We need to study this matter if it’s possible to have this as ministerial only or if Robredo will receive benefits from the posthumous confirmation),” Sotto said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.

Sotto, also the chairman of the bicameral body’s committee on interior and local government, said it took Malacañang more than a year since Aquino assumed office on June 30, 2010, to submit Robredo’s appointment for approval by the CA.

He added that Robredo was only able to complete and submit his requirements on November 23, 2011.

He said that the process was delayed because it was affected by the Christmas Break, Easter Break, and the Senate’s sine die adjournment.

He said the confirmation would have happened on August 22 but that Robredo asked for it to be moved so it was set on August 29.

He said Robredo would have gotten an easy confirmation.

“One time lang yan parang Mar Roxas and Butch Abad,” Sotto said.
