Cobra on snake diet in zoo
The king cobra whose venomous bite nearly cost the life of a Cebu City Zoo keeper last week is now a major attraction in the park.
Days after it was captured for biting zoo keeper Ronaldo “Ron-Ron” Aventurado, the reptile finally took its first meal made of live small pythons. The King Cobra had refused to eat the rats fed to it.
Visitors have flocked to the zoo to take a look at the King Cobra being kept in a glass enclosure.
Visiting Indian wildlife expert Soham Mukherjee of Humane Society recommended releasing the cobra in the wild.
But Mayor Michael Rama said he would rather have the serpent donated to facilities that can take care of it rather that release it and become a danger to people.
