WHETHER blood is thicker than water or party politics will prevail in Cordova town remains to be seen.
A day after the daughter of Provincial Board member Arleigh Sitoy, lawyer Leighna Katrina Sitoy-Abarquez took and oath with the administration Liberal Party, Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy said he want to finish his 3rd and last term as mayor.
Mayor Sitoy said the move to have her grandaughter Leighna run for mayor is on the prodding of his son Arleigh.
“That was Arleigh’s move, to make sure that Cordova will have and LP mayor because I refused to transfer to the LP,” the Cordova mayor said.
Mayor Sitoy said he refuses to move from One Cebu to the LP because he find It bad to transfer from one political party to another.
He said he will go to Manila where her granddaughter is working and talk her out of running for mayor and instead support him in his last term.
But is her granddaughter will refuse his plea, “it would not be problem since they are both Sitoy.”
In an interview after her oath-taking with the administration party last Monday in the office of Cebu 6th district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing, Leighna said their family would still have to resolve the issue with her and her grandfather.
She said she hopes her grandfather would yield to her.
In the run up of the October 1 -5 filing of certificates of candidacy for the 2013 election, the tug of war between LP and One Cebu of Garcia family is expected to escalate.
LP will again field Hilario “Junjun” Davide III for governor while Cebu 3rd district Rep. Pablo John Garcia will be One Cebu’s bet.
