Eagles log 71-17 win vs Jaguars in Milo tilt
THE SACRED Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles Passerelle team underscored their bid for a sixth straight title in the Cebu eliminations of the Milo-backed BEST Twin Tournament as they destroyed the University of San Jose-Recoletos, 71-17, yesterday at the SHS-AdC basketball courts along Mango Avenue.
Forward Arnie Padilla, the son of former PBA player Onie, matched USJ-R’s entire output for the game with 17 points.
Making the feat even more impressive was the fact that he did it in just the first period, where the Eagles set the tone for the blowout by erecting a 31-2 lead. Jair Igna also waxed hot in that stretch with nine markers.
The Eagles are gunning for a third straight title on the national level.
In the Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) division, the defending champions SHS-AdC bounced back from a loss to the University of the Visayas by beating the Cebu Eastern College, 33-22.
The University of San Carlos and UV share the lead in the standings after registering their third straight wins.
