CURRENT  running sensation Mary Joy Tabal outran veteran and former running queen Christy Sevilleno-Tutor in yesterday’s 15-kilometer race of the 1st Heritage Run 2012 at the Plaza Independencia.

Both runners were winners last Sunday with the comebacking Tutor topping the 25k category of the 7th University Run of the Cebu Doctors’ University in Mandaue City and Tabal winning the 16k title in the 1st Timex Run in Cebu City.

But yesterday, Tabal showed she has what it takes to beat a former champion as she finished the 15k race in one hour and 47.99 seconds, almost six minutes clear of Tutor’s time of 1:06:42.23.
