Robredo a model family man, public servant, says Gazmin

MANILA, Philippines—Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo was “a model family man and public servant” who balanced his duty as a father and a government official, the Department of National Defense said Tuesday.

“The men and women of the Department of National Defense mourns the untimely passing of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo,” said Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin said in a statement.

“[He] is a model family man and public servant. He balanced his duty as a father and as a government official. He made concrete efforts to better society, to serve the public and transform how government performs its duty,” he added.

His death is a “great loss to our continuing efforts in reforming bureaucracy and the road to good government,” he also said.

Meanwhile, the Armed Forces of the Philippines also extended their condolences to the loved ones of Robredo he left behind as he was “a role model of an honest and committed public servant.”
