With Robredo gone, anti-crime crusader is worried

MANILA, Philippines—”What will happen to us now,” asked anti-crime crusader Teresita Ang-See said as she notes that Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, among all Cabinet officials have worked closely with them.

“Even late at night, he will not hesitate to come to talk to us and families of victims of heinous crimes,” Ang-See said Tuesday after Robredo’s body was found inside the fuselage of an aircraft that crashed along Masbate last Saturday.

She recalled that when a kidnapping victim was rescued in Cotabato and the victim decided to take the next flight to Singapore, he immediately flew from Cebu to Cotabato to debrief the victim.

“Mga reklamo namin sa ilang pulis, sa kanya lang namin naihihinga. Papaano na kaya kami ngayon, (We have complaints against certain policemen that we can tell only to him. Now what are we going to do?),” Ang-See said.
