The daughter of Cebu Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy yesterday took her oath as a member of the Liberal Party, saying she would run for Cordova town mayor in 2013.
The political plans of Leighna Katrina Sitoy Abarquez put her grandfather, incumbent Mayor Adelino Sitoy in a fix since he’s allied with Gov. Gwen Garcia’s One Cebu party.
“I haven’t met my grandfather about this but our family will be resolving this soon,” said Sitoy-Abarquez, a corporate lawyer who graduated from the Ateneo University. She arrived from Manila with her lawyer-husband and two daughters.
Leighna Katrina said she favors the Cordova reclamation project started by her grandfather because it would create jobs and business opportunities but added that she wants to ensure it would not endanger the environment.
She also said that if she’s elected she plans to expand the Cordova community college and bring in projects through the Public-Private Partnership approach of President Aquino.
She and two others were inducted by LP Cebu provincial chairman Hilario “Junjun” Davide Jr. at the 6th district office of Rep. Luis Gabriel Quisumbing in Mandaue City.
Consolacion town councilor Brando Cuizon and barangay Cansagacaptain Peter Cabillada took their oath.
Consolacion Mayor Teresa Alegado said the two will complete her municipal council slate for 2013.
