Games today:
Cebu Coliseum
5 p.m. – CIT-U vs. USC (Jrs.)
6:30 p.m. – SWU vs. CIT-U (Srs.)
A team desperate for answers is hoping that one would be provided today as the Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras face off against the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats in the 12th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) men’s basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.
The season so far has not been kind to the Cobras, a team many pegged to be untouchable because of the presence of their two Cameroonian players Justin Aboude and Ben Mbala.
However, that has not been the case as the Cobras have already lost two games in the tournament, the latest a 61-64 defeat at the hands of the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters that dropped SWU’s record to 1-2 (win-loss).
Injuries have riddled SWU, last year’s losing finalists. The Cobras’ two main wingmen Bon Guillena and Monbert Arong missed the last game because of different ailments.
The Cobras of head coach Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba must get enough contributions from veterans Bernie Brigondo and Joseph Nalos in order to make their way back to the win column.
On the other hand, the Wildcats hope to pounce on the struggles of their opponents today as they also hope to improve on their 1-2 standing. Leading their charge will be fiery wingman Floyd Taboada and versatile forward, Allen Dimco.
