2 bodies found in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – The body of a half-naked woman was found floating near the sea wall along Roxas Boulevard while a dead man wrapped in sacks was found in the Pasig River in separate incidents in Manila on Monday morning.

Police said the still unidentified woman, wearing only a black T-shirt, was found by a village watchman at 6:15 a.m.

Senior Police Officer 2 Virgo Villareal said the victim was around 25 to 30 years old, about 5 feet tall and with long hair.

“She was naked from the waist down,” Villareal said.

Police saw no visible injuries on the woman’s body and they have yet to determine if she was raped. The body was sent to St. Ivan Funeral Parlor for autopsy.

In nearby Binondo district, the body of Jumar Rodriguez, 26, of Gate 54, Area C, Parola Compound was discovered by an 11-year-old boy at around 6 a.m. and later identified by his wife Maricel, the police said.

Rodriguez’s body was found stuffed inside two jute sacks tied with a yellow nylon cord, PO3 Richard Limuco said.

The victim bore apparent bullet wounds on the forehead and the back, Limuco said.

Rodriguez was last seen by a neighbor at 3 a.m. walking toward the Area C main gate, just three hours before he was found dead, police said.

Police placed the case under further investigation.
