Cab driver killed, cop hurt in QC shooting
MANILA, Philippines — A taxi driver died and a policeman was left critically injured when an irate man, who was reprimanded for driving noisily in a neighborhood in Caloocan City, shot them several times Sunday night, a police official said Monday.
Police Officer 3 Joselito Barredo of the Caloocan City Police said Marlon Maguigad, 28, sustained one gunshot wound in the head after the suspect, whom he identified as CJ Tan, attacked him using a handgun.
Maguigad was declared dead on arrival at the Manila Central University Hospital, Barredo said.
PO1 Mark Anthony Padua of the Northern Police District remains in critical condition. He is being treated in the same hospital after sustaining a single gunshot wound to the body, Barredo told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
The incident happened while the two victims and a few others were drinking in front of Padua’s house on Salvador St. in Baesa at 10:45 p.m.
