Cesafi tertiary football gets underway

THE TERTIARY football competition of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) will kick off today with two matches at the newly rehabilitated football field of the Cebu City Sports Center.

The opening match will see the University of Cebu (UC) going up against the University of the Visayas (UC) following a simple opening ceremony at 1 p.m.

The second match will pit the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) and the University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R).

The defending champions University of San Carlos (USC) will be seating out today’s first day of competition for the tertiary level.

Invited for the ceremonial kickoff is Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy as well as members of the Cebu Football Association board.

After today’s start of hostilities, tournament coordinator Francis Ramirez said that the tertiary action will resume on Sept. 2 to give way to the staging of the regional eliminations of the Milo Little Olympics at the CCSC.

Ramirez also said that the secondary level will start its competition on Sept. 8 yet to give way also to the Milo Little Olympics and the San Roque football tournament.

Don Bosco Technology Center will be back to defend its title while the rest seeing action are the juniors booters of the USPF, USJ-R and USC and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
