Solon launches scholarship
Cebu 6th district Rep. Luigi Quisumbing yesterday launched the “Iskolar Quisumbing (IQ)” educational assistance program for indigent college students from Mandaue City, Consolacion and Cordova towns.
Around 1,200 scholars who passed the screening will receive P2,500 per semester.
The IQ assistance program is in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The scholars don’t need to get high grades, only a passing rate in all the subjects.
They also need to give their commitment to involve in livelihood trainings, leadership seminars, value formation and other community-related events that will be done by the congressman’s office.
“Their invovement will not only enhance their skills and talents in serving the community but also uplift the living conditions in the sixth district,” Quisumbing said.
Article continues after this advertisementThey are also mandated to attend the meeting every second Saturday of the month that will start on Sept. 12 and general assembly at the end of each semester.

Parents are also required to monitor their children if they perform well school to ensure continued scholarship support. /REPORTER JUCELL MARIE P. CUYOS
