A JEEPNEY conductor was stabbed dead while two men were shot and wounded in separate incidents in Danao City, northern Cebu.
Reynante Alvarez of barangay Laaw, Borbon was stabbed in the chest allegedly by Joseph Tito when the two men argued in a terminal past 1 a.m. yesterday.
Police are still investigating what caused the argument.
A hunting knife believed to have been used in the stabbing was recovered in the crime scene.
Alvarez was declared dead by the attending physician at the Danao Provincial Hospital.
An operation to arrest Tito is underway, said police.
In barangay Cambanay, 44-year-old baker Buenaventura Tabañag was shot by an unidentified gunman while he was sleeping in his home past 10 p.m. yesterday.
Tabañag sustained gunshot wounds in the arms, shoulder and nape. He was brought to a hospital.
Investigation is ongoing to identify the assailant, said police.
Two hours later, a 31-year-old man was shot and wounded by his father while they were arguing in barangay Guinsay.
Filmar Lao was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound in the right thigh.
The victim’s father Marcelo fled after the shooting.
Police investigation revealed that Filmar went to his father’s house in sitio Cogon around 2 a.m. yesterday.
For a still unknown reason, the father and son argued until Marcelo drew a gun and shot Filmar./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
