Singson, Sevellino-Tutor log convincing wins in Gaisano Country Mall Fit and Fab run

Adonis Singson and Christy Sevellino Tutor took advantage of the absence of some of Cebu’s best runners by dominating the 15-kilometer race of yesterday’s Fit and Fab Run at the Gaisano Country Mall in barangay Banilad, Cebu City.

Singson from Pardo, Cebu clocked 52 minutes and four seconds to win the men’s 15k crown while Tutor won the women’s title with a time of 1:07:28.

Cebu’s running community was divided yesterday since two races were held simultaneously. Aside from the Fit and Fab Run, the China Bank Fun Run 2011 was also staged at the Cebu Business Park(see separate story on page 34), participated by other top runners such as Southwestern University’s Mary Joy Tabal and John Philip Dueñas.

Sherwin Managuil (52:21) and Jess Gonzaga (52:44) claimed second and third, respectively in the men’s side.

Madelyn Carter (1:07:47) and Melinda Ponce (1:18:07)  rounded off the top three in the distaff side..

Joel Delposo of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), meanwhile, ruled the 7k race with a time of 23 minutes and 43 seconds while teammate Aiza Suaybaguio topped the women’s side with a time of 29:21.

Jorry Ycong and Lovely Fe Andrin ruled the 3k run. Ycong clocked 09:52  to win the men’s race while the 12-year-old Andrin topped the girls’ division with a time of 12 minutes and 15 seconds.

Lovely Fe is one of six Andrin siblings trained by Alex Loloy at the Mactan Air Base in Lapu-Lapu City. Her 13-year-old sister, Jhean, finished second in the women’s 7k race with a time of 30:50. Her other sister, nine-year-old Cherry Andrin, joined another race yesterday.

The run, which was held in line with the celebration of Nutrition Month, was headed by race director Raffy Uytiepo.
