UST gains share of lead

THE UNIVERSITY of Sto. Tomas Tigers nabbed a share of the lead in the standings after they pushed past the gritty University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 68-58, in the 75th UAAP men’s basketball tournament last Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Tigers were made to sweat for this one as they led by just one, 55-54, in the game’s final minutes before uncorking a 7-0 blast that spelled the difference in the tight game.

It also helped that Karim Abdul scored 20 points and bagged 12 rebounds to give UST its fifth win in six games and share the lead with Ateneo and the Far Eastern University with similar 5-1 (win-loss) records.
