Mandauehanons get free services

MORE than 300 residents of barangay Jagobiao in Mandaue City availed of free services from the city’s 21 departments at the barangay gymnasium on Monday.

The activity, dubbed as “Barangayan: Serbisyo sa atong tugkaran” aimed to bring the government closer to the people

“I am bringing the city hall right at the doorsteps of my constituents as I promised,” said Mayor Jonas Cortes during the opening ceremony.   The mayor said the same services will be given  to the remaining 23 barangays.

These services include free medical and dental consultations, free medicines and vitamins by City Health Office, free anti-rabies vaccination and castration by the city veterinarian, issuance of community tax certificate by the treasurer’s office, and job fair and free manicure, hair cut and foot and body massage from instructors and students of Mandaue City Technological, Entrepreneurial, Skills Training (MCTEST).

Dr. Lyra Ompad, one of the dentists, said majority of those who availed of tooth extraction were children.

Rose de la Cerna, who spent 23 years in the Middle East and in Hong Kong as therapist and is presently taking a massage course at MCTEST said she found fulfillment every time she gives free massage and foot reflex to walk-in clients.

Jewel Mendoza, Human Resource officer of Monde Nissin Corp., one of the companies offering jobs, said she endorsed for screening 16 applicants for production work. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
