Cebuano Fuentes faces Korean foe on Sept. 22

OPBF flyweight champion Rocky Fuentes of Mambaling, Cebu City is penned to fight Myung Ho Lee, a Korean boxer based in Japan, on Sept. 22.

The world ranked Fuentes (33W-6L-2D, 30 KOs) is being positioned for a world title shot in any of the major boxing organizations.

“We want to schedule this fight for the next Pinoy Pride event here in Cebu next month,” ALA Promotions Vice President Dennis Cañete told CDN Wednesday, “We are also looking at the possibility of this fight happening on the undercard of AJ Banal’s title fight at the Mall of Asia this October.”

Fuentes’ last fight was a 6th round TKO win against Javier Franco of Mexico at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel last March.

Lee (15W-1L, 5 KOs) has fought exclusively in Japan and also goes by the name Hayate Akihiro. His only loss was against a Filipino, Alfred Nagal, in a fight held in Osaka.  /Correspondent Rene Bonsubre Jr.
