‘Shoot-out’ on Manila bridge leaves holdup trio dead

Three suspected robbers were killed in a “shoot-out” with the Manila police early Wednesday.

Police Officer 3 Rodel Benitez said the three still unidentified men fired first and were killed in a gunfight on Dimasalang Bridge in Sta. Cruz at around 1:30 a.m. after allegedly robbing four people in the area.

Benitez said members of the Manila Police District Station 3 were patrolling the area when the victims called their attention saying they had just been held up at gunpoint by the three men, who were described to be in their late 30s.

The officers along with the victims searched the area and spotted the suspects who were crossing the bridge. The suspects fired at the approaching MPD team and the officers retaliated, Benitez said.

Recovered from the crime scene were the stolen items, as well as a .45-cal. pistol, two .38-cal. revolvers, a 9 mm pistol and several bullet casings, Benitez said. Jamie Marie Elona
