De Lima smells something fishy about Go’s disappearance, orders probe

MANILA, Philippines—Justice Secretary Leila De Lima ordered Wednesday an investigation on the disappearance of New Bilibid Prison inmate Rolito Go and his nephew.

“Is this really kidnapping for ransom or something staged?” De Lima asked.

She said she has already ordered the National Bureau of Investigation to conduct a probe.

Go’s sister who went to the NBP this morning said they were able to talk to Go and nephew Clemence Yu Wednesday around 7 a.m. and said their abductors are asking for a P1-million ransom.

Go is already a minimum security inmate after being in prison for almost 19 years and suffering from colon cancer. .

He was convicted of murder for the death of college student Eldon Maguan in a fit of road rage in 1991.
