‘Helen’ shuts down schools, offices in Luzon

MANILA, Philippines—Classes were suspended on Wednesday in Benguet and in five areas in mainland Luzon while government offices were closed in Baguio City and La Union as Tropical storm “Helen” hovered south southwest of Aparri, Cagayan.

Preschool to high school classes in both private and public were suspended in Pasay City Wednesday, Malacañang announced in its Official  Gazette.

Classes were suspended  in all levels in the province of Benguet and in the towns of Balayan and Sta. Teresita in Batangas, in San Fernando, La Union, and in the towns of Naic and Ternate in Cavite.

In  Taytay, Rizal, classes were suspended in Exodus ES, Bagong Pag-asa Daycare Center, Antonio Esguerra NHS, San Juan ES, Manuel Santos HS, Genesis Daycare Center, Pag-asa ES, Muzon ES, and Tapayan ES.

Government offices were closed in Baguio City except for agencies handling emergency services. Work was also suspended in the Philippine Overseas and Employment Administration branches in Baguio City and La Union.
