For them, winning isn’t a sure thing. But what the Mexican boxers are guaranteeing is a performance that would satisfy the hard-to-please Cebuano crowd.

Jorge Pazos and Angel Martinez promised to put up a gallant stand when they see action in the main undercards of the Pinoy Pride XV: The Rematch slated this Saturday at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

The main event will have Jason Pagara (28W-17KOs-2L) seeking sweet revenge against former tormentor Rosbel Montoya (36W-30KOs-4L-1D).

“I came well-prepared. I promise to give a spectacular fight,” Pazos said during yesterday’s press conference at Patio Isabel.

Pazos will take on the hard-hitting Genesis “Azukal” Servania, the reigning WBC International Silver Bantamweight champion.

Servania is still unbeaten in 18 fights spiked by seven knockouts. He is fresh from an impressive win against the veteran Genaro “Poblanito” Garcia.

“I’ve seen his fights on tapes. He’s a good boxer, agile and hits well. I know he is one of the top prospects here but I am also considered as one of the promising boxers in Mexico. This is going to be a very good fight and I am guaranteeing that you will be satisfied with my performance,” said Pazos through interpreter Ramon Escano.

Set to face journeyman Jimrex Jaca is Martinez, who is gunning for a win which he said could boost his career.

“It’s an honor to fight Jaca. It’s an opportunity to gain experience,” said Martinez.

During the media briefing, trainer Jesus Edmundo Gaitan took time to correct the records of his wards.

In the press kits handed out by ALA Promotions, Martinez has 13 wins with nine knockouts, two losses and a draw. Gaitan said Martinez actually has 18 wins and four of the five ‘missing’ victories were by knockouts.

Gaitan said one victory was not listed in Pazos’s record. The corrected record shows Pazos with 21 wins with 13KOs and three losses. Gaitan believes that Pazos and Martinez will go home victorious.

“There is a big a possibility of triumph. Even if we lose, we are assuring that we gave our 100 percent,” said Gaitan.

Montoya will accompany Pazos and Martinez in a public workout at 5 p.m. today at SM City-Cebu Entertainment Plaza.

During the workout, free tickets will be given to lucky fans who could answer trivia questions regarding the fight card.
