MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross will continue to accept donations for the victims of the recent flooding until Aug. 24.
Donations such as canned goods, noodles, rice, water and hygiene kits may be sent to the Inquirer head office, Chino Roces Avenue corner Yague and Mascardo Streets, Makati City.
Cash donations may be deposited in the Inquirer Help Fund’s current account No. 4951-0067-56, under the name Philippine Daily Inquirer Inc., BPI branch in Intramuros.

As of Tuesday, the Red Cross said it had served 20,2911 families with food items and 10,681 families with non-food items. The PRC also provided hot meals to 72,623 people.
The head of Singapore’s Red Cross visited the Philippines to help in the Philippine Red Cross’ relief effort for families still in evacuation centers.
Secretary General William Benjamin Jeyaraj of the Singapore Red Cross Society and his team arrived in Manila on Sunday and joined the PRC relief distribution Monday for 945 families in four evacuation centers in Caloocan and Valenzuela cities.
They were accompanied by PRC Chair Richard Gordon and Secretary General Gwen Pang.
Australia meanwhile has given Manila A$1 million or P43.8 million which the United Nations World Food Program will use to send rice stocks to flood-affected communities.
Likewise, the European Union has allocated 700,000 euros or about P36 million to fund relief operations.
In a related development, Vice President Jejomar Binay said borrowers of the National Home Mortgage Finance Corp. who were affected by the flooding may defer payments of their housing loans for six months.
