2 suspected robbers killed in Manila shootout
MANILA, Philippines – Suspected riding-in-tandem robbers were killed in a pre-dawn shootout with police in Manila Tuesday, police said.
Senior Police Officer 3 Genesis Aliling of Manila Police District station 4 said the two still unidentified suspects were killed after engaging in a firefight with police authorities along Piy Margal Street corner A.H. Lacson Avenue in Sampaloc, Manila around 2:45 a.m.
Aliling said the suspects were flagged down by roving cops after they were seen driving a motorcycle without a license plate attached to it.
But instead of pulling over, the suspects allegedly opened fire at authorities, initiating a shootout that resulted to their deaths, he said.
Recovered from the suspects were a calibre .38 revolver and a hand grenade.
Aliling said further investigation was underway for possible identification of the slain suspects.
