THREE men were killed yesterday after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a trailer truck parked along the highway in Argao town, southern Cebu.
A delivery van of the Manila Bulletin, which passed by the area at the time of the crash, fell on its side when the driver tried to avoid running over the three bodies sprawled on the highway.
The victims were Luisito Cambarijan, 31; Genito Amazona; and Silvestre Gomera; all from sitio Canohoy, barangay Bulasa, Argao town.
The three men had bought bread in the Poblacion and were returning to a friend’s vigil wake when the accident happened at 1:20 a.m. in sitio Candabong, barangay Binlod.
Cambarijan, who was driving the motorcycle, and his two friends were thrown off when it crashed into the back of the parked truck.
The motorcycle was borrowed from a friend’s neighbor, said Nena Bajenting, the live-in partner of Cambarijan.
Trailer truck driver Henry Aque of Bais City, Negros Oriental, told police that he was heading to Mandaue City to deliver sand when the truck had a flat tire.
He parked his truck on a well-lighted area at the side of the road and placed an early warning device at the rear .
He then started replacing the flat tire.
