THE Jesuit Retreat House in Banawa, Cebu City will hold a series of monthly spiritual conferences branded as Ignatian Discoveries.

Competent resource persons were invited to share their personal discoveries on pertinent social topics in the light of Ignatian spirituality.

On Aug. 18, Sr. Maria Lourdes Veloso of the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM), who studied Formative Spirituality, will share her own discoveries on the personhood of Mary, the Mother of God.

Dubbed as “Mary in today’s context of our life,” this spiritual conference includes a discussion on Mary’s freedom as well as Mary’s positive response to the call of God to be the Mother of Christ which became the center of the incarnation.

Another topic Sr. Lourdes will talk about is the darkness of the faith of Mary, and how this was processed, thus making her the “highly favored daughter.”

Ideal for those who are beginning a Marian devotion and those individuals or religious groups who want to affirm or strengthen their own Marian devotion, the Spiritual Conference on Mary begins at 8 a.m. and ends with a Mass at 5 p.m. Aside from the inputs of Sr. Lourdes, the program includes silent prayer workshops, group sharings and para-liturgical Marian celebrations.
