NPD mulls solution to crime rate hike

The Northern Police District (NPD) is getting ready to deploy more policemen to areas under its jurisdiction where an increase in crime rate has been reported.

Superintendent Ferdinand del Rosario, NPD spokesperson, said that this was among the directives given by NPD director Chief Superintendent Antonio Decano to alleviate crimes in the Camanava (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela) area.

“While we already have policemen regularly patrolling major thoroughfares in our area of jurisdiction, we will get more police officers to ensure peace and order in the streets,” Del Rosario said in an interview.

“To help in the proper deployment of police officers in the proper areas, we have asked the city police chiefs to regularly submit crime statistics for their respective areas, so over time, say monthly, we can compare if crime rates have increased in specific areas,” he added.

In addition, del Rosario said that the district and city police offices would coordinate more often with force multipliers such as peacekeeping groups and barangay officials to help maintain security. Nathaniel R. Melican
