House to hold requiem mass for Congressman Escudero Wednesday

MANILA, Philippines – The House of Representatives will hold a requiem mass on Wednesday for Sorsogon Representative Salvador Escudero III, who died in sleep before dawn Monday.

In a text message sent to reporters, House Public Relations and Information Bureau executive director Bernadette dela Cuesta said the requiem mass would take place 9 a.m. at the plenary hall in Batasan Complex.

Escudero, who had been battling cancer for two years, died at 3:30 a.m. in his Quezon City home, his son Senator Francis Escudero said in a text message.

After the mass, Escudero’s remains will be returned to Mount Carmel Church in New Manila, Quezon City. He will then be flown to Sorsogon Thursday morning, Dela Cuesta said.

The date of his interment has yet to be announced.
