CEBU Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale hired the eldest daughter of her predecessor, the late vice governor Greg Sanchez Jr. as one of her consultants.
Magpale said she hired Grecilda “Gigi” Zaballero because of her expertise in organic farming similar to her father Greg.
“Her passion is to serve especially the farmers. Her technical expertise in developing organic fertilizer would serve the province well,” she added.
In a separate interview, Zaballero said the consultancy job was offered to her by Magpale. She said her contract stated that she will be paid P1 a year.
“I am trying to help the office in whatever way I can,” she told Cebu Daily News.
She added that she will also be helping out in monitoring the different projects of Magpale especially those projects that were started by her father.
“There are actually projects that Vice Gov. Magpale continued from my Dad’s project before. And I am also hoping that at least I will still have an avenue to push for Dad’s project such as the trans-axial and fishport,” she said.
Zaballero said that she started her consultancy work earlier this month and she is still starting to get acquainted with the task.
Zaballero is a chemical engineer.
She is now managing the Lactobiotics Worldwide Corp. that her father had put up.
Recently, Zaballero was included as one of the contenders for the Rice Creative research award of the Central Visayas Regional Invention Contest and Exhibit (Rice) held at Ayala Center Cebu. /Carmel Loise Matus, Correspondent
