Families of 64 soldiers can finally find a place they can call home in the Army’s main camp in the metropolis.
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) has completed the construction of four residential buildings within the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, as part of its P700-million “replication program” for the military.
In simple ceremonies held Thursday in Fort Bonifacio, BCDA president Arnel Casanova formally turned over the four five-story condominium buildings to officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and Department of National Defense (DND).
Each building has 16 100-square-meter condominium units with at least three bedrooms. Last May, the BCDA finished the construction of two similar buildings where 32 Army personnel and their families now live.
“While our nation’s heroes are protecting our countrymen, their families can enjoy the comforts of having their own condominium units in a prime government property,” Casanova said during the program.
According to Casanova, the construction of the condominiums was proof of the BCDA’s commitment to provide the military’s share of the proceeds of the sale and development of former US military bases in the country.
“We are honored to be working with the DND and the AFP in bringing dignity to our soldiers and their families,” he said.—Marlon Ramos
