CEBUANO Marvin Tapic ruled the 141-kilometer second stage of the Cebu Challenge Cycling Classic (Tour of Cebu) from Bogo City to Barbars Sports Complex in Toledo City yesterday.
Tapic, representing the Cebu Province Team, dominated stage two with a time of two hours, 17 minutes and 32.36 seconds.
Stage 1 winner John Renee Mier of LBC -MVP Sports slowed down in Stage 2 but he still emerged on top in the overall race with a time of four hours, 36 minutes and 46.18 seconds. This means Mier will still be wearing the yellow jersey going into today’s third stage from Toledo City to the municipality of Argao.
Tapic is at close second spot in the overall race with a time of four hours, 36 minutes and 48 seconds. Rounding off the top three is Rustom Lim of LPG-American Vynil of Manila with a time of four hours, 37 minutes and 04.52 seconds.
Cycle Line Extreme Team of Butuan City’s Tots Oledan placed second in stage 2 behind Tapic (2:17:54:88) while Cycle Line rider Riemon Lapaza finished third (2:17:53.88).
In the team event, LPG-American Vynil of Manila remained the top team after three of their cyclists managed decent spots in the individual overall standings.
Cycle Line Extreme Team of Butuan placed second while Mangaldan Pangasinan is at third followed by the Cebu Province./CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
