‘Hanna’ leaves, heads for Japan

Tropical Depression “Hanna” left the country yesterday after a brief and largely uneventful stay, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Pagasa on Saturday said Hanna was heading towards Okinawa, Japan, and was expected to merge with Typhoon Ma-on within the next 24 hours.

Typhoon Ma-on is expected to hit Japan in the next few days and could bring thunderstorms and rainshowers to the Philippines.

Hanna hardly left a mark on the country—no storm signals were raised during its short stay.

Pagasa said southern Mindanao would have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms on Sunday, while the rest of the country would be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Leila B. Salaverria
