House to extend hearings on 2013 budget

MANILA, Philippines—To make up for lost time due to bad weather brought about by the southwest monsoon, the House committee on appropriations might extend its hearings on the proposed national budget for 2013.

Committee chair Cavite Representative Joseph Emilio Abaya said they might tackle schedule-hearings on Fridays to allow lawmakers to scrutinize the proposed budget for agencies like the Department of Energy, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Tourism and the Judiciary.

Committee level deliberations on the proposed national budget for 2013 are expected to take up most of August.
