STUDENTS and enrollees of the University of the Philippines (UP) may be spared the inconvenience of lining up for hours with the launching of the integrated and system-wide information and communication technology (ICT) project.
Launched yesterday in UP Cebu, the project branded as “eUP”, is expected to improve not only the academic transactions in UP but also the information integration among the university’s campuses all over the country.
Dr. Elvira Zamora, vice president for development of the UP system, described eUP as “an integrated, interconnected, inter-operable ICT system and infrastructure across all UP campuses.”
She said this system will support the school’s thrust for academic and operational excellence.” Zamora said.
In a video message, Alfredo Pascual, UP president said the P750 million eUP project will bring the university to the “next higher level of modernization.”
Wilson Ng of Ng Khai Development Corp. said he hopes the eUP will help the university make information technology more accessible to other people./Correspodent Jose Santino S. Bunachita
