PBA doles out P1M for flood victims

THE Philippine Basketball Association lived up to its civic duties by donating P1 Million to help victims of massive floods that has plagued Manila and neighboring provinces.

The amount will be given to either the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council or the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Talk N Text head coach, Chot Reyes said more help will be coming as the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation Inc. will also be donating P1M.

“The PBA is always ready to respond to the needs of our kababayan,” said PBA Commissioner Chito Salud in his statement to the press. “Our track record bears that out. Aside from the PBA’s one million-peso donation in cash, our team owners and players are ready to take part in any activity that supports the cause of alleviating the plight of those families victimized by the recent floods. We send our deepest sympathy to the victims.”

PBA media bureau chief, Willie Marcial said the players have made themselves available to help in the relief work aside from the fact that they have already donated cash amounting to P150,000.
